Project Overview

Each hurricane season HFIP will conduct an experiment, referred to as the Demonstration System or Demo System where the program attempts to demonstrate model capability including high resolution ensembles using both regional and global models that go well beyond the current capability of the operational global and regional models for the prediction of hurricanes.

During the 2013 Demonstration, the operational plan is to run a suite of models that were considered Stream 1.5 candidates as determined by the evaluation from the 2013 Retrospective HFIP Testing. During the 2013 hurricane season, Stream 1.5 will include global, regional, and consensus models. Also, a new set of modified or new model configurations are also run as Stream 2 candidates.
