Project Overview

Each hurricane season HFIP conducts an experiment, referred to as the Demonstration System or Demo System, where the program attempts to demonstrate model capability including high resolution ensembles using both regional and global models for the prediction of hurricanes.

The demonstration is conducted over the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific basins. The set of experimental models being demonstrated are called "Stream 2" candidates. A goal of the Stream 2 evaluation is to test various configurations of global and regional model candidates and their ensembles to determine if they meet HFIP goals of improving track and intensity forecasts.
